Design and 3-D medical applications of 2-D ultrasound sparse arrays (Alessandro Ramalli, Univ. of Florence, Italy)
Le 10 avril 2026
11 AM
Campus LyonTech-La Doua
The talk will report on the design methods that are currently used for the development of 2-D sparse arrays. Sample implementations of 2-D sparse arrays based on piezoelectric and capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer technologies will be presented. Finally, images and videos of (real-time) 2-D sparse array applications to 3-D flow imaging, super-resolution imaging, and high frame rate imaging will be shown.
Alessandro Ramalli, born in Prato, Italy, in 1983, earned his Master’s in Electronics Engineering from the University of Florence in 2008 and a joint Ph.D. from the University of Florence and the University of Lyon in 2012. (...) From 2020 to 2025, he was a research fellow and Assistant Professor at the University of Florence, now an Associate Professor. He is a senior expert in ultrasound technology, and his research interests encompass ultrasound medical imaging, echocardiography, beamforming methods, ultrasound simulation, arrays, and systems design.
